Here's how to really support your friend's business

Thursday, 22 February 2018

Raise your hands if you have at least one friend who has a business, a foundation or something they built from scratch and are managing. How many times have you truly supported them? Maybe not a lot of times after all, you are busy sorting out your life or even managing your business too. Whilst this is okay, it is also important to encourage and cheer on our friends and family members who have taken the bold step, ignored all the negatives in the country and decided to create something of value.

It is NOT easy and I will tell you this for free, they need your support. They may not say it all the time but do we really need our friends to beg us before we support them? Why are we friends if I cannot give my undying support and buy all your products Haha!

Sometimes, all your friends need is to know you;re in their corner and they are not alone. Here are a few ways to support their business.

Buy from them

Lowkey, I believe this is the most important . One of the reasons they are in business is to make money and buying their products has a way of boosting their morale. Take me for example I have friends who sew and as long as I confirm that they'd do a good job and not cut off my head with price, I patronize them, It is a deliberate thing.

My yellow gown here was made by my friend, Onyinye.  Very beautiful dress. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

This beautiful print gown made by another friend., Tolu.

As long as you can afford it and the product is good, don't take the money elsewhere. Simple!

Give advice when you can
If you notice in the previous post, I kept saying 'if the product is good' because there is no point buying in the name of supporting and you find out the money is a waste. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„Kolework!
If its a trial product or something then its fine but if the actual product is a hot mess then  you need to give your honest advice, Don't let your friend go and 'chop' insult outside,. Make sure you're the most pleasant person ever when you are giving your advice so it doesn't seem like you aren't encouraging which in the real sense is not the case.

Announce their business to EVERYBODY
This is very easy abi? You have a friend who bakes and someone wants a cake for her birthday, tell her about your friend, you have a friend who makes shoes and you know your office wants to get a gift for your boss, suggest that they buy your friend's shoes .
Look for opportunities to advertise your friend's business and they'd thank you for it.

Be there when they have issues

Small business owners go through a whole lot! From feeling their business is crap, to struggling with getting customers and thinking about how to market their products properly there's so much on their plate. When they come to you and rant, listen to them, if you know a few people you can recommend to help them do so.

Pray for them
This is equally important. When you pray remember them, pray for new ideas and more customers, pray for good health and any other prayer point that comes to you. They would need that!

Just remember that when you support a small business you're supporting a dream, your friend's dream and there are immeasurable rewards for that. I'd tell you one for free. When you need people to support yours, you'd get them! It's the law of sowing and reaping.

Does your friend have a business? What have you done to support in the last 3 months?

Much Love
