AN INTROVERT'S REVIEW OF THE BLOGGERS POINT BRUNCH x MY WEEKEND LESSONS

Thursday, 24 August 2017

I am keeping my promise about talking about my weekend and lessons I learnt. This is quite funny because I actually think that I have the borinest life ever. I even work from home, but since I committed to doing this post I am going to do all within my power to keep that promise.

Before we continue let me state this, I am not so much of an introvert, I'm just socially awkward ๐Ÿ˜ฉ.

Now we can continue.

My weekend was INTERESTING. It didn't start off that way because my mum was a bit ill so on Saturday I had to take her okay more like follow her to the hospital since I can't drive sigh. I am going to learn how to before the year runs out. Can you drive? What are the things I need to know since I'm taking classes soon?

Last week Sunday I attended a bloggers brunch organized by The Blogger Point. Well done guys, you did an amazing job.

Because the event was in the afternoon, I had to leave church early. Gosh I always feel like a sinner when I do that. How do creatives who sometimes have work / event obligations on Sunday draw the line thoughWould appreciate your replies.

I was pretty excited and nervous about this event and I'd tell you why.

Excited because I was doing something completely new and different . Although it was waaaaaaaaay out of my comfort zone. Going for events with plenty beauty, lifestyle bloggers who have their make up on fleek, eyes popping and cameras ready can be very intimidating if you know what I mean. Still I was feeling all giddy inside.

Second thing I was exited for was the goody bags. I have always seen fav bloggers like Cassie, Sisi and Tuke show us what they got from their bags and I kinda waned to have that experience.

Why was I nervous? Beauty and fashion bloggers na, the intimidation๐Ÿ˜

Do you want to know my thoughts

It was obvious the organizers put a lot of hard work into it. I liked the icebreakers they had to help people like me relate with the other bloggers. Urghh God knows I could have gone to that place and not really said so much to anyone. God bless your pretty hearts.

The second ice breaker/ game was great. At first we were asked to just pick people to be on our teams randomly and I was like Oh Lord just have your way because I don't think I'd have a team. Later Demi who is the project manager for the event asked us to pick numbers one to four and people who picked the same numbers will be on same team. I picked my number and was in group four.

The group task

The task was to create a campaign for the product we were given as bloggers. Hmm sounds like fun right

I particularly liked the task because it made me remember my brand management class in school. We were given a perfume and we got to work.I won't tell you our idea so you won't steal it. Lol. I am just trying to cut the long story. I was feeling quite positive about what we came up with.

It was such a joy when my group was announced winner. I actually shouted. Still can't believe it. Guess what the prize was? A free photo shoot and we get to be the face of the blogger agency for a year๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ

P. S When you see someone with literally no makeup on, you've found me ๐Ÿ˜‚
Yeah that's my group.

I don't know if I have openly said this but I was actually looking to get a photo shoot, glad I'd be getting one free, I can't explain the feeling fam.

I was a bit bumped with what I got in my goodie bag though. I didn't get what the other bloggers got. But it's alright.

LESSONS I Learnt from my weekend

Uber is now a bit more expensive I mean I had to take an uber because I was wearing all white and the last thing I wanted was one danfo driver to splash yamayama on my dress but the prices looked a bit higher than the last time I used it and there was no traffic this time.

I really should take more risks and step out more often

I cant possibly develop my self fully if I am cooked up in my home office all day. I met some nice bloggers especially my team members and Leila Khalil. I even learnt a few blogging tips from them, one of which was how to do a flatlay, sigh, never knew what it was before. I mean I used to see it but didn't know how to recreate it.

I'm taking some lessons and trying one out. I shared one via my insta story, it was terrible. When I become a pro you would know so if you are not following me on instagram you  may miss
that so please do follow me. My handle is @oloriadedotun.

Thank you Rele Owoyemi for this picture.

I NEED to work more on my social skills.

Took me a long time to adpat when I got there. Some people were probably looking at me like where did this one land fromI am not sure I took so many pictures too or talked to so many people.  I really tried though.

Make friends

I made a friend at the Beautified Network's Becoming in July and it felt good to see somebody I knew and could talk to without issues. Shout out to Rele Owoyemi. I probably over famzed you on Sunday lol.

I have many more lessons from my notes.  If you are a blogger or influencer looking to land sponsorships look out for my next post.

The panelists at the brunch did a fine job with making things clear to us. I'd talk about them and all I learnt soon.  I'd also put a link to the second post once its up.

In the mean time check out other bloggers at the event.
