SELFIE/ SOULFIE

Tuesday, 1 September 2015

I loooooooooooooooove taking selfies! As in I pride in the fact that I am a fine girl! And you know what I also love? When people tell me how pretty I look in my selfies.

There is a kind of joy and fulfillment I get when I hear that.

I know so many ladies who can take 100s of selfies to get the right one to use on various social media channels. It is something we love to do. After all we are fearfully and wonderfully made. I think the person who came up with this selfie thing deserves a special blessing from God. Some of us are yet to master the art and craft of taking selfies because I believe it’s a skill. But I pray you will get there.

Funny enough, the guys are not left out in this craze as they (maybe not all) are gradually enjoying the whole selfie idea. It is just a little way of showing self love and I think everyone needs that.

But
Too many of us are too concerned about our face, our skin, our legs, lips, eyes and how pretty they look in the cameras. Some of us have mastered our personal camera angles that we can hardly go wrong in taking the pictures.

What about your soul? Can you take a selfie of your soul and post it on instagram for everyone to see? Or you are harboring so many things that are wicked, rotten, painful, angry or jealous. Things that if your boyfriend who sees you as the prettiest girl in the world finds out, will make him leave you. That can tarnish the awesomeness of the outer beauty? As a guy can you take a picture of the things that go on in your mind and show it to your guys and the whole world?

Some of us seem so perfect on the outside but inside we are really messed up. True and lasting beauty exudes from inside of you and until you clean up your insides you can never be truly beautiful.
To get this true and lasting beauty we first have to be sincere with ourselves that we are not perfect. Some of us are in self denial. We prefer to pretend that some of the things we are keeping or holding back never really happened, just to make ourselves feel better. You need to accept that there is really an issue and you need to deal with it.

The next thing is to work on that problem, if it’s a weakness deal with it, if it’s a wrong thought arrest it and avoid re-occurrence, if it is an addiction, to whatever, drugs, alcohol, porn, sleep, money please deal with it. Addictions are terrible and they kill rather slowly. They tend to take over your senses and the more you allow it, the deeper you go.

Make sure you get help and get it fast. Feed your soul and nourish it the same way you treat your skin or even better. That is what will last the test of time. Proverbs 31: 10 says that charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. I believe that will also work for the guys.

There is nothing wrong in taking a selfie but can you dare to take a soulfie?

  3. I hope I get the recharge card. Lol! Very thoughtful piece there. This generation is more concerned about the outer beauty and neglecting the innner being. This is the reason many bleach their skin to appear lighter. Can we have a Soulfie challenge? Who will have the most beautiful Soulfie? Cheers

    1. Hello Namesake! You did win the recharge card. I'll contact you very soon. I think having a soulfie challenge will be really nice but how is the issue. It's very sad how we place so much importance on our body and forget the core of our being.

    3. Woops! Congratulations to me. Thanks dear namesake. More grace to your elbow. Our soulfie is a reflection of our core values. It is reflected in the simplest way possible, like the way we treat the less priviledge in the society.

  4. True talk.. True beauty goes beyond just the outward.. Its more of the inward. It's a pity people pay more to the outward beauty which with time will deteriorate and eventually die. Where we spend out eternity when our body eventually die is more important.. This is a nice piece. bamsdelexy@yahoo.com

  7. This is quite an interesting piece- and prophetic too, bringing God's thoughts to bear. Well done! It's a very unique way of communicating the trumpet sounds of heaven in such a time as this. The salvation of the Soul, actually, is that which marks the end of the faith. I Peter 1: 9
